Positively Reinforcing the Self: Using Self Hypnosis and Positive Affirmations to Get You the Extra Edge in Motor Racing
Nobody wants to hear themselves put down by anyone. No one wants
to listen to how bad or ugly you are, how stupid, or how unsuccessful,
how there is no way for you to succeed. All these words are meant to
lower the self esteem and they work. To turn that around, everyone
wants to hear good things about themselves, how the boss can rely on
your efficiency, how well you look in your clothes, even saying your
name back to you from someone who you look up to increases or boosts
your system. That is the principle behind positive reinforcement, or
for this article, positive affirmations.
The world of sports is a highly competitive arena, and there are a
lot of words thrown around by competitors that are meant to lower your
self-worth. There is no sparing anyone in sports, even the drivers who
race. By using conversational hypnosis
and positive affirmations to get you the extra edge in motor racing,
the possibilities of your winning may be increased as the belief in the
self also increases.
Telling yourself over and over again that you are worth the money,
that your sponsors look to you as the key to increase their sales, that
you are what everyone needs in order to succeed, all these talk to the
self is a form of self hypnosis. Saying positive words bolsters the ego
and that can unconsciously make you more of a fighter. There is no way
you can hear anyone wanting to win a race tell themselves that they
are worthless.
The only downside to using self hypnosis and positive affirmations
to get you the extra edge in motor racing is when there is no truth to
what you are telling yourself. That is now relegated to delusions of
grandeur. You can use the techniques, but if you are physically not
able to race or to even have the ability to race, no matter the
technique, it just won’t work. Making the technique work means that the
goals that have been set have to be realistic, otherwise, no matter
what hypnosis you go through, you won’t win.
